If you want to use templates to save time, but don’t want to deal with databases and setting up a full CMS, this might be your system. You edit HTML files and some clever PHP takes care of the rest.

For the first iteration of my site, this would have saved me days of time. Also see Unify for a very slick paid solution to bring some pizazz to editing static HTML pages.
